47 Trips Around the Sun: Still Becoming ✨

Every year around my birthday, I sit down to write this blog.

Some years, the words come easily. Other years, I find myself staring at the page, wondering how I could possibly put twelve months of life into a few paragraphs.

This year feels like one of those years.

As I celebrate 47 trips around the sun, I find myself thinking less about getting older and more about everything it takes to become.

Because this past year has changed me.

It has challenged me in ways I didn’t expect. It has asked me to be stronger when I was tired of being strong. It has made me advocate harder, speak louder, rethink relationships, question old patterns, reevaluate what home means, take risks, build things from the ground up, and keep believing in dreams that sometimes seemed determined to test just how badly I wanted them.

There were moments of excitement and moments of disappointment. There were doors I hoped would open that didn’t—at least not yet. There were things I worked incredibly hard for that didn’t happen on my timeline.

And there were days when simply continuing forward felt like an accomplishment.

But somewhere in all of that, something else happened.

I changed.

At 47, I know myself differently than I did at 37—or even 46.

I understand now that growth doesn’t always arrive looking like success.

Sometimes growth looks like boundaries.

Sometimes it looks like saying no.

Sometimes it looks like fighting for someone you love.

Sometimes it looks like starting over.

Sometimes it looks like accepting that something no longer fits the person you’ve become.

And sometimes growth is simply waking up the next morning and deciding that yesterday doesn’t get to determine what happens next.

This year also reminded me that I am, at heart, a creator.

I create stories. I create characters and worlds. I create beauty. I create businesses and ideas. I create possibilities where there wasn’t anything before.

And perhaps most importantly, I continue to create a life.

Not a perfect one.

Not an easy one.

But one that is still unfolding.

There is something incredibly freeing about reaching this stage of life and realizing that I don’t need to have everything figured out.

I’m allowed to change my mind.

I’m allowed to reinvent myself.

I’m allowed to want more.

I’m allowed to protect my peace.

I’m allowed to outgrow things.

I’m allowed to dream differently than I did ten years ago.

And I’m allowed to believe that some of the best chapters of my life haven’t happened yet.

So I’m not entering 47 with a long list of resolutions.

I’m entering it with three words:

Creative. Radiant. Magnetic.

Creative enough to keep imagining what could be.

Radiant enough to remember that light doesn’t disappear simply because life gets dark sometimes.

And magnetic enough to trust that what is truly meant for me doesn’t require me to become someone else in order to receive it.

This birthday, I’m raising a glass to everything that brought me here—the beautiful moments, the painful ones, the unexpected ones, the people who stayed, the people who left, the lessons I didn’t ask for, and the dreams I still refuse to give up on.

I’m grateful for another year.

Grateful for the people I love.

Grateful for every opportunity still waiting somewhere ahead of me.

To a little more magic.

And to becoming whoever I’m meant to become next.

Same soul. Bolder magic. Always me. ✨
